MINNEAPOLIS, MN, January 3, 2007 Equus Computer Systems Inc., the largest white box system builder to the channel with ten locations in the U.S., today announced that it will OEM Sony's Advanced Intelligent TapeTM (AIT) drives for use in the Nobilis server systems. The AIT tape storage products, spanning from entry-level to enterprise class solutions, deliver a choice of capacities, performance, and price points, which will further enable Equus to deliver complete custom server solutions as a convenient, single source for customers. "One of the key benefits Equus provides is the ability to offer custom solutions based on the unique needs of each customer," said Joe Toste Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Equus Computer Systems, Inc. "AIT offers a comprehensive line of tape storage products, allowing customers to select precisely the right tape drive perfectly suited for each particular solution." "AIT, through a single backward compatible format, is the only tape format that spans every market segment from low end to enterprise," said Joe Toste. "This provides simplicity and convenience." AIT tape storage products, ranging from 20 gigabytes to up to 400 gigabytes native storage capacity on a single cartridge, provides unique features and benefits, such as Memory-In-Cassette for faster access to files and Write-Once, Read-Many (WORM) functionality for added data security. For increased reliability, AIT only uses Advanced Metal Evaporated (AME) media, which contains pure evaporated cobalt and is sealed with a super-durable Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating. In addition, AIT drives incorporate an automated head cleaner mechanism. Together, the AME media and automated head cleaner reduce the need for periodic cleaning.
